Head Shaving Tips

by Mike Beek on October 8, 2010

A few years back, I decided to shave my balding head. After a bit
of research, I found the perfect razor—the Head Blade (www.headblade.com).

It’s different than using a regular razor because instead of pulling the
razor towards your hand, you push it away from your hand. And, your
hand is close to your scalp as you shave, giving you fantastic control. I
bought mine at Walgreens, butI know Rite Aid carries it and maybe CVS as well.

I use their HeadSlick Shave Cream and I shave in the shower. My shower
head has a setting that lets me switch to a steady stream like your
faucet’s stream, so I don’t waste a lot of water. That makes it easy to
rinse the blade along the way—an important thing to do.

I just tripped upon a great way to ‘prep’ my scalp before applying the
shave cream. It’s a new men’s product from Dove called Clean Comfort.
It comes in a tall container with the spout on the bottom so it’s easy
to dispense. I wash my scalp with it and then apply the shave cream.
When I go to use the razor, it’s like I’m running the blade across a
smooth, lubricated plane of glass. No razor drag at all!

I figured I need to share this tip with my bald(ing) brothers out there.
